The Dimewell app for iPhone and Android is the same Dimewell as the website — the same account, the same numbers, the same bills and transactions. Anything you change on one shows up on the other.
Signing in
Sign in with the email and password you use on the website, or create an account in the app. If you've turned on two-step verification, the app asks for your authenticator code too. You stay signed in on your phone until you sign out (More → Sign out).
On the sign-in screen, Remember my email fills your email in next time (never your password), and the eye button in the password box shows what you've typed. If your phone has Face ID or a fingerprint set up, tick Unlock with Face ID (or fingerprint) to turn on the app lock as you sign in.
Finding your way around
The tabs along the bottom, with the same names and order as the website's menu:
- Dashboard — your balance, with Remaining after bills, the lowest point, what's still to pay and payday under it; anything that needs your attention; Dimewell's insights; and your paycheck periods (tap N scheduled items to open a period's list). Tap New to record a paycheck, a bill payment or a transfer, or to add a bill. Tap the ⓘ next to Remaining after bills to see the working.
- Bills — your bills by category. Tap a bill to see its payments, its upcoming due dates, and to edit, duplicate, pause, archive or delete it.
- Debts — what you owe and how fast it's going down. Tap a debt for its history and balance chart.
- Transactions — your transactions, one account at a time. Search, filter, reconcile with your bank, or export a CSV from the ⋯ next to Record transaction (it opens your phone's share sheet, so you can save it to Files or email it). Tap a transaction to edit or delete it.
- More — your profile, notifications, settings, appearance, the Face ID or fingerprint lock, the legal pages, signing out and deleting your account. A number on More means you have unread notifications.
Pull down on any screen to refresh it.
Settings (from More) is a short list — Accounts, Planning, Pay schedule, Categories, Data — each saying what's set up; tap one to change it. The longer explanations are behind the ⓘ icons.
The app uses gentle taps you can feel (haptics) for a few things only: a confirmation or an error, a switch or choice changing, a section opening, and letting go of pull-to-refresh. They follow your phone's own vibration and haptics settings.
Locking the app with Face ID or your fingerprint
Go to More → Security and turn on Lock with Face ID (or fingerprint). You're asked once to make sure it recognises you. After that, the app asks when you open it, and again if it's been in the background for 5 minutes or more — a quick look at another app never asks again. It's a setting for this phone only.
If your face or fingerprint isn't recognised, your phone's passcode works too, or you can sign out and back in.
Notifications on your phone
Dimewell sends its messages to your phone as notifications. The first time you sign in (or right after you create your account), your phone asks whether to allow them. To choose which kinds come as notifications, go to More → your profile → Notifications; messages about your account always do. Tapping a notification opens the right screen. Signing out stops notifications on that phone.
If you said no, More → your profile → Notifications → On this phone lets you turn them on later — or opens your phone's settings if that's where they need turning on.
Appearance
More → Appearance: Match system, Light or Dark. It's saved to your profile, so the website uses the same choice.
Your plan
Dimewell is free during early access. When plans start, More → Subscription shows your free trial or subscription, and is where you subscribe, restore a purchase on a new phone, or manage it. See Your plan.
Deleting your account
More → Delete account, then type delete to confirm. Everything is deleted permanently, including your sign-in — the same as deleting it on the website.
